I’ve found that using “introduction greeting cards” to get acquainted with fellow business owners is a very effective way to get my name in front of people. A card is more memorable than an e-mail or even a phone call.
Here’s is a copy of one such card I’ve used to introduce myself and my business to other business owners in my neighborhood here in Chicago. Below you’ll also see a copy of the inside greeting which I wrote in the card.
I followed up this card with several other greeting cards providing some valuable information to help them in their business. I’ll tell you more about these later in this post.

The copy in the example is bit small, so check below it for a larger version of what I wrote inside.
Hi Daniel,
I found you in the Lakeview Chamber of Commerce listings and wanted to introduce myself to you.
I’ve just moved back to the city after living in Hawaii for almost 12 years.
I’ve been in business for myself for over 20 years now, providing mentoring, coaching and training services for other small business owners.
My specialty is helping small businesses create effective customer retention strategies.
As you know, it’s far easier (and cheaper!) to hang on to what you’ve got than to have to go out and find new customers.
I also provide consultation to help small businesses get on line and create a significant presence on the Internet.
I’d love the opportunity to get to know you and your business, and explore any ways I might be of service to you.
I’ll be calling you in the next week so we can chat briefly.
Regards,

As I mentioned earlier, this was just the first greeting card sent in a series. Each of the cards was designed to provide a lot of value to the recipient. Allow me share just a couple of these follow-up cards.

Tired of Sending E-mail?
This card shared some of the statistics about the challenges of using e-mail as a way of staying in touch with customers, leads, and business partners.
A huge amount of the e-mail messages we send are never opened – they end up in e-mail “junk folders”, they are deleted before they’re ever opened, or they just sit in someone’s inbox for weeks (even months!).
This card was an invitation to look at the iCare Card system. A card received in the mail is opened almost 100% of the time!

Complimentary Consultation Invitation
This card was an invitation to a complimentary 30-minute consultation. The message in the card made it clear that the purpose of the consultation was for me to get to know them and their business better.
I wanted to find out about their biggest challenges. I wanted to learn about their customer service and customer retention strategies. And I wanted to explore if there were ways I could be of service to them.
The sky is the limit for ways to use Invitation Cards. You can use them to invite customers to sample a new product or to invite prospects to sign-up for a free special report. You can invite people to join you for a business networking cocktail party. What other ideas do you have?
Test drive the iCare Cards system HERE! Find out how you can use it to invite people to learn about your business, your products, and your services.
